NETFLIX COMPILATION FOR ZACH
Greetings Zach! I am happy to have the opportunity to share a range of projects demonstrating different aspects of my capabilities as a post producer. I have chosen two of my recent favorites to share (Japan Airlines and Banfield), which include some working documentation as requested, followed by 3 editorial projects, each demonstrating a different focus and intent (Billie Eilish, Black Future and Chase Young).
But first, a couple words about what excites me regarding this position on your team. In my career, I have always been driven to work on the most interesting projects with the most talented people. This draws me to places such as Netflix Creative Studio. I always strive to work with the best that’s out there, because I take certain amount of pride in my experience and the work I do. The timing seems right in my career for an opportunity such as this- I get excited about using my skills and experience in new capacities and rising to new challenges at a global company. But most importantly, the people I get to meet, work with and ultimately befriend, might be the most enriching part of what i do for a living.
JAPAN AIRLINES (RECENT FAV/WORKING DOCs)
This recent project was enjoyable as it brought me back to working on CG. This promotional video for Japan Airlines takes the viewer on a journey through the iconic landmarks and seasons of Japan. Our look and feel was quite specific, embodying a Japanese-inspired aesthetic. It was fun to guide the CG production pipeline, specifically environment and character development. Here is an example of a shot breakdown and schedule. This piece has not aired so please do not circulate. Thank you!
BANFIELD (RECENT FAV)
Sometimes the coolest thing is creating something out of nothing. A blank slate can daunting, but ultimately with a talented team the challenge is exhilarating. Cel animation is pure magic- working with artist from around the world, starting with just a script guiding the most fundamental type of motion graphics— it’s an amazing ride and some of the most fun work to be a part of.
My Time at beats (WORKING DOCS)
While working at Beats I managed the post team, which scaled based on our needs growing from 10 to 16 artists. The post team serviced all business functions throughout the brand. Our team was based on editorial with most of the finishing work going out of house.
Beats had a shift in budgets affecting our department, which dictated that we keep all finish in-house, rendering us to adjust our workflow and ramp up the finishing team to include a colorist, a handful of audio mixers, flame artists, finishing artists and localization duties.
Ultimately with this new shift in budgeting, I worked to reshaped the internal processes of the department. I initiated a standing weekly meeting to go through our jobs, but also to check-in on everyone’s well being. The included Weekly Update is a good example of the volume of work which I oversaw and produced day-to-day.
BILLIE EILISH (EDITORIAL + PRODUCT LAUNCH)
This project demonstrates a global campaign supporting a product launch, produced under a tight timeline, but also under close supervision from leadership and label management. The effort culminated in multiple content pieces- broadcast commercials, long and short form docs, teasers, retail fixtures and OOH, which were used across all business functions in every format possible and delivered for all international markets.
The campaign is based on a look into the making of the song “everything I wanted.” A personal and up-close breakdown on what inspired the song with Billie and her brother Finn. Starting from a vulnerable place, the track gets flipped into becoming a cathartic anthem. Below is one of the :30 broadcast spots followed by a docu-style editorial piece.

BLACK FUTURE (EDITORIAL FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH)
To deconstruct the impact and importance of Black culture on America, Beats decided to look forward instead of backwards, enlisting three young creative minds to expand on what the future of African-American culture is, and how to get there. Guided by Mereeba’s lyrical vibe, we work our way through our interviewees stories. Presented at the Apple offices as a symposium, our director and talent hosted a Q&A for the project.
CHASE YOUNG (EDITORIAL GEARED FOR SOCIAL)
Beats has a very active social engagement with its audience. Working towards delivering quality content in realtime to keep topical is a tall order. This project was shot under heavy quarantine regulations, but the true challenge was our turnaround time - we had 3 days to edit, color, and compose original music, as well as finish and master for all social channels so it’s available the moment Chase is drafted to NFL.
Our task was to give a real look into the preeminent top 5 draft pick’s life pre-draft in the COVID-19 environment. A reflection on his dreams, work ethic, family and finding a way to thrive in the midst of a pandemic. This is a solid example of delivering a quality product while working at top speed, managing multiple artists, working through creative revisions and setting expectations with stakeholders.
